active supporters of Pioneer Bluffs, also a part of the Kansas Flint Hills Quilt Trail.
JoAnn made the lucky purchase of this block painted by Susan Hague at a silent
auction at Pioneer Bluffs.

The barn quilt was installed at the El Dorado Branch of Citizens Bank of Kansas,to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the family ownership in 2022,Citizens Bank of Kansas takes pride in beingthe family-owned neighborhood bank for its customers for four generations.Steve Joyce, teacher at Dexter High School, is a barn quilt enthusiast, with other barn quilts tohis credit through Cowley County. Under his guidance the Dexter High School Community Servicestudents became involved in the barn quilt process.

This barn quilt is waiting to be displayed after renovations.

Our new home for "Pioneer Star" is our barn built in 1872 by Charles Rogler, an Austrian immigrant.
It can be seen from the south along Flint Hills National Scenic Byway, K-177, one mile north of Matfield Green.

The Sauble Ranch has been in this family for 158 years. This building
was originally built to be a trappers cabin, and was rebuilt in 2006, and
currently used as a historical representation of the original cabin. It is
made of hand hewn logs.
The Sauble Ranch is one of the oldest continuously owned and operated
by a single family in the state. The original cabin was here when David Sauble
staked his claim on the land in 1856.

The Klemm's have owned this building for about 10 years and it is one of the few remaining original store fronts in Cottonwood Falls, built around 1881. Currently the Presbyterian women distribute
used clothing to those who need them at no charge through this building. In the past it has served
as a lady's clothing store, a steam cleaners business, a gift shop, a homemade jewelry shop,
flower shop and variety store, and now the freewill clothes distributing center. The large flat
store front as well as the wooden roof and all wood frame remain without any historical changes.

Dallas and Linda purchased this land from Linda's parents 35 years ago (1978),
who had purchased it in 1963.
In 1888 the land was owned by Linda's great-grandfather's sister and husband,
Jacob and Kathie (Klein) Mall. They sold the land in 1910. From 1910 to 1963 it
was sold several more times, most were shirt-tail relatives. When farming the
land next to our pasture, occasionally a rock will still turn out from the dugout
Jacob and Katie Mall lived in.
