Good Work Cowley County!
The Central High School Art Department Students just finished painting these barn blocks as a community project. This is the second year that they have painted and donated barn quilts. The blocks will soon be hung at Flemings Grain locations north of Winfield and west of Burden and will join the Cowley County leg of the Kansas Flint Hills Quilt Trail.

Judy and Larry Sorenson, experienced barn quilt owners,
explain "how-to" make barn quilt blocks.
Judy and Lori Hambright, KSFHQT Dickinson County Rep,
gave a KSFHQT barn quilt presentation to those in attendance.
Lori also gave a Kansas Barn Alliance report on the recent
Barn Fest in Dickinson County, including barn quilts that
were viewed on the Tour of barns.
Approximately 60 were in attendance for the event.

displayed on their Museum building in Yates Center.

Barn Quilts on Barn Fest Conference Program

Barn Fest 2014 is covering many topics relating to preservation & restoration of barns and farm structures.  Our lead-off session on Friday, September 26 is about bringing beauty to these stately structures.  Learn about the driving routes in Dickinson county and how over 50 barn quilts have been created & now displayed, making Dickinson County one of the largest concentration of barn quilt art in the state.

KSFHQT Goes To Holton, Jackson County
Quilting On The Square Quilt Shop in Holton invited the
Kansas Flint Hills Quilt Trail to join the Art Walk in Holton
last Friday evening, August 29th.
The Art Walk visitors were fun to visit with, and
it looks like a couple barn blocks will be joining the Trail!
